On tuesday night Ben played live with Z star, winner of “The Best Live Act” at the Brighton Music Awards. The “Brights” as they are known had special guests Roger Daltrey and Jimmy Page attending.

Last year Ben mixed Z Stars new album Masochists & Martyrs. The album features 12 stunning tracks recorded at a 1960’s recording studio in Rome and mixed at Ben Mitchell’s Can Can Studio. A very talented line-up of musicians from the UK & Italy create an exciting and dynamic soundscape. M&M is a roadtrip through the darker side of love reflected in how we choose to express ourselves in relationships. Profound, Passionate, engaging and very liberating.

Z-Star’s live shows are quite simply, unforgettable. You have to physically experience them to understand the infectious nature of her magical energy. Billie Godfrey will appear with Heaven 17, live on Later with Jools Holland on Tuesday 19th October at 10pm on BBC2. An extended show, can be seen on Friday 22nd October at 11.45pm on BBC2. The show will be available on i player for 11 days from Friday.

Sao Benitez’s track on Playstation’s LittleBigPlanet 2

Ben Mitchell’s Sao Benitez has had a track licensed to the new Sony Playstation game LittleBigPlanet 2.

The track “Espiritu” was composed by Ben Mitchell Chris Fleming and Chris Harvey and features on the new Sao Benitez album Peace & Love out later this year.

LittleBigPlanet 2 takes the possibilities of the first game, and supercharges them, giving you the opportunity to create whole new type of gameplay experiences: top-down racers, side-scrolling shooters, sheep-launching-bazooka-anti-grav-deathmatch-arenas… and that’s just the obvious ones.
But LittleBigPlanet 2 isn’t just about creating – first and foremost, it’s about fun in all its forms. So aside from all of those creative tools, there’s a whole meaty Story Mode to explore. It’s an epic adventure through time and space, featuring awesome gameplay types, cool new power-ups, and a quirky cast of new characters. And on top of all of that, up to four players can get involved for maximum multiplayer merriment (thanks, Mr Thesaurus).

Ben Mitchell and Chris Harvey have composed the music to the new Mini Countryman ad. The ad titled "Snow" is due to air Autumn/Winter 2010. The music has a distinct 80's feel supporting Minis sense of style and sophistication.

The production called for Ben & Chris to dig out from the back of their studios, some very dusty Jupiter 8s, Juno 60's and DX 7s that hadn't seen the light of day for a while.

MINI, being one of the trendiest brands in auto world, has to always come up with special ways for promoting their cars. The release of the countryman will be supported by a series of TV ads depicting the more humorous sides of life

The countryman is BMWs latest mini cooper with 4 seats, 4 doors and 4 wheel drive. Its available from September 2010.

Bacardi Island Ad featuring Sao Benitez Danca Loca reaches 150,000 hits On Youtube

The Bacardi Island Ad that features Ben Mitchells Sao Benitez “Danca Loca” track has reached 150,000 hits on Youtube. The ad was launched in the states at the end of last year and in the UK since the first of April.

The ad was shot in Malta. using specialized dive units and aerial photography crews employed. Authentic elements utilized for the shoot including: a real island built on the water, imported fine tropical sand and palm trees, as well as a cast of 120 actors from Germany and the United States.

Sao Benitez at The Grass Roots Festival Jersey

Grassroots is a boutique, home grown, world class independent surf and music eco festival featuring chilled out vibes in a friendly, welcoming environment. They aim to create a personal and intimate experience for all those that take part - festival goers and performers.

We are very happy to announce that Ben Mitchell’s Danca Loca by Sao Benitez has been awarded sync of the week in Music Week on Friday the 16th July 2010.

The track is used on the Bacardi Island campaign which has been running world wide since October 2009. The campaign was launched in the UK during the Champions league quarter final between Arsenal and Barcelona and had many slots during the World Cup.

The Sao Benitez “Danca Loca” album featuring the tittle track from the Worldwide Bacardi Island tv advert is released today. Its available on i-tunes and Amazon and all good digital stores.

The album is a fusion of Latin, Funk and dance floor flavours. There are 11 tracks including “Dream B.I.G.” featured on the Adidas european cup TV ad campaign and a cover of Stevie Wonders “Golden Lady”. Other covers include “Caught Up In The Rapture” and “Never Too Much”

The album features some of the country’s finest vocal talent including Billie Godfrey, Lucy Jules, Bryan Chambers, Mary Pearce and Sammy Sarfas.

The Sao Benitez band will be touring later this year so watch this space.

Today sees the release of Batida do Corpo’s album Body Percussion

Batida do Corpo is a Body percussion ensemble assembled by Ben Mitchell. Body percussion is rhythmical grooves played using sounds created only by the human body.

The rhythm's can be a track on there own or just part of the instrumentation.

The album features a remix by Norman Cook (Fat Boy Slim) of the track Amazonas. The original was influenced by the indigenous tribes of the rain forest using a two tone sound created by filling two sealed bits of bambu with different amounts of water.

The track A Night In Havana features some of the musicians from Sao Benitez. The track evokes the sound of the Havanan waterfront.

The track Gol was influenced by the silky skills of the great Brazilian football team from the 1970s . Close your eyes and you can see Jaizinho, Revelino and the great Pele once more.

Gol, Baterista and Percussao do Corpo have recently been licensed to the new Brazilian Football album Ginga “The Sound of Brazilian Football” due out in time for the World Cup.

The album has a definite Loved up Sound and features the beautiful voice of Billie Godfrey. High lights from the album include a cover of the great Burt Bacharach track “The Look Of Love” and a Latin version of Mary J Blige “You Remind Me”.

The track Espiritu sees Ben hook up with the musicians from Mr Hermano for the first time in a few years and is featured in the new Playstation game Little Big Planet.

Mr Bongo Records has announced the release date of the of the new Sao Benitez album Danca Loca. The album will be available from i-tunes on the 12th July 2010

The album includes the tittle track used on the new Bacardi Island ad and Dream B.I.G, the track used on the Adidas Worldwide ad.

The album features some of the finest soul voices including Billie Godfrey, Bryan Chambers, The Sisterhood, Pack of Three and the untamed Sammy Sarfas.

Five videos from the Billie Godfrey gig at The Royal Albert Hall are now available on youtube. The videos feature tracks from The Eden Tree album, that is available on i-tunes. The tracks are Hush Now, The Eden Tree, You Bring Me Love, Allergic To The World and Woodstock.

Billie supported Beverley Knight on the 100% tour. The first leg was last November and the 2nd leg that included the Royal Albert Hall show was earlier this month.

Ben Mitchell has returned from touring with Billie Godfrey supporting Beverley Knight. The highlights of the tour included the Lowry Centre Manchester and the Royal Albert Hall London. Billie was debuting tracks from her new Eden Tree album produced by Ben.

The Eden Tree is a collection of twelve original songs and two covers of artists that have inspired Billie’s own song-writing. Joni Mitchell (Woodstock) and Carol King (You’ve Got A Friend). Musically the songs are inspired by soul, gospel and folk artists such as Ray Lamontagne, Norah Jones, Aretha Franklin , Joni Mitchell and Stevie Wonder. Billie’s vocal influences include Minnie Riperton, Eva Cassidy and Anita Baker and The Eden Tree features vocal arrangements which echo those of Stevie Wonder and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

Billie is a singer songwriter who has sung with with renowned artists such as Chaka Khan, Santana, Prince, Paulo Nutini and Beverley Knight. She has also recorded with Ray Lamontagne for the Grammy nominated album GOSSIP IN THE GRAIN as well as providing vocals for the Oscar-winning soundtrack to the film ‘Ray’ the life story of Ray Charles.

BACARDI launches its new advertising campaign, 'Island' tonight on ITV. The Ad will debut in a prestigious TV launch spot in the Live UEFA Champions League quarter-final between Arsenal and Barcelona.

Bacardi Island features the music “Danca Loca” by Sao Benitez produced by Ben Mitchell. It is already available on i-tunes, through the Mr Bongo Label. The ad is already a youtube hit with over 80,000 hits.

Tonight's match is the most watched of the entire competition, pulling in more than 7million viewers. The ad will feature during the crucial half-time break.
